Let's talk about image!

This post is based mostly on a conversation I had tonight.

I think that image is one of the hardest things that people deal with in this life. It's hard for individuals to realize that what's on the outside isn't nearly as important as whats on the inside! It doesn't help that our society is uncomfortable with breastfeeding in public. That and Being so self conscious are pretty isolated to the Western Hemisphere, Particularly North America. Do you think that if the taboo aspect were deteriorated that there would be fewer crimes like women getting attacked? Definitely!!!!

"So why do people have to have such a hard time with it?"

Because they don't understand it, and people fear what they don't understand!

"What don't people understand about the human body and its needs and desires?"

People think that they are carnal, and an indulgence like over eating. Notice that the countries that don't frown on obese women are also more open to those things like breast feeding in public, and sexuality

"Well people are obviously comfortable with overeating and having a healthy sexual apitite is actually more fulfilling in the long run than one for fast food."

No they're not comfortable per se, they just do it. Just like people aren't comfortable with sex, but they do it. A healthy sexual appetite IS more fulfilling than one for fast food. But a Healthy food appetite is more fulfilling than an appetite for porn. Sex and food are synonomous in MANY ways!

Does this sound like it makes sense? I do. I truly see a correspondence between people who are afraid of over indulgence, and a rise in crimes of many natures. A correspondence between people who can't accept a love of food, and people who can't understand a love of good, intimate sex. A correspondence between those who think it's inappropriate to breastfeed openly, and those who make us feel unattractive if we don't fit the "desired" physical image!
